I'm currently betting on Chivalry 2 outperforming long-term as its core mechanics feel much stronger and flushed-out. My prediction is that each game will be skillful in it's own way. there are so many new things people have yet to perfect. Matrix dodging on a timer, jabs, special attacks, universal dodge. We have barely had access to Chivalry 2 and I think its premature to make this statement. 6 - 18 months depending on your aptitude and time. It took a long time for players to reach the skill ceiling in Mordhau. After playing Chiv 2 more, I don't think this is true. There is a common opinion right now that Mordhau is the option for "High-skill play" and that Chivalry 2 is a more "Casual" experience. I purposefully left any mention of it out above. The main topic I want to delve into however is Skill ceiling. (-) Band-aid solutions over mechanics such as "miss detector" or "CFTP stam drain" feel sloppy and indicate deep issues in the game. (-) Content is released very slowly, and is often felt to be the wrong content by the community. (-) Worst moderators of any game I've played in the last decade. A root of a lot of issues concerning balance, maps, & performance. (-) Small and inexperienced development team. (+) Modding SDK in the works, allowing for unique custom servers. (+) Great community overall, minus the occasional edge-lord. (+) Tons of customization options, memorable emotes / voice lines, and great overall personality. (++) Excellent swing manipulation and clean striking that feels good. (-) Limited cosmetics so far and less customization of your combat attributes and cosmetics. ![]() (-) Combat can feel very "floaty" due to trying to making 1vx's more winnable and overall newbie friendly. It's buggy as hell with a bad reputation. (+) Robust and experienced development team. (+) Large and beautiful maps that feel epic. ![]() ![]() (+) Shifts the focus from weird offense to clean defense. I'll just start with what I believe the main advantages and disadvantages for each title are. To be transparent I currently favor Chivalry 2 as the better title, but am still curious to discuss what the differences are. To preface this I'm a Mordhau player with quite a few hours (2,100+) and have participated in the past couple Chiv Betas. This question of "What is the difference between Mordhau and Chivalry 2" keeps getting asked in our group of friends and I wanted to share my thoughts. ![]()
